Mill & Mortar sells spices from all over the world. They offer the very best quality, lots of ecology, fair trade, clean label and estate products.
Mill & Mortar was established on February 1, 2008 after being in the making for half a year. Behind Mill & Mortar is Iben Büchert, who has previously worked in the consulting industry, but has now made her hobby and interest in food and food concepts her way of life.
Mill & Mortar is located in Vedbæk, where they have their spice factory with warehouse, production and office facilities. The dedicated team works endlessly to supply spices and almonds to dealers and distributors in 22 countries.
What Did Mill & Mortar Need Help With?
Mill and Mortar have set up their online store using WooCommerce and use e-conomic for accounting purposes. However, the volume of the orders is huge and it is next to impossible to create manual invoices in e-conomic for every order on a daily basis.
The manual process is not very scalable and has scope for a lot of errors. They needed help with integrating their accounting system [e-conomic] with their webshop.
Essentially, they needed help with:
- Automatically adding updates from WooCommerce to e-conomic
- Invoice processing
- For every order placed in WooCommerce, an order should be created in e-conomic automatically
Mill & Mortar received their orders through their WooCommerce webshop, on the basis of which they had to update all the details in their accounting system manually. This wasted a number of hours and resources on a daily basis, which could have been easily avoided with automation. Plus, manually doing this was not very scalable and had scope for errors.
Thus, Mill & Mortar needed help with syncing WooCommerce updates with their accounting system e-conomic so that every order placed in WooCommerce would automatically generate an order in e-conomic.
How Did We Approach the Challenge?
Cloudify acquires expertise in both Zapier and e-conomic. We are official partners with both of these.
An automation was set up between e-conomic and WooCommerce to enable flow of information.
However, the actual process is much more complicated than that. We differentiate between B2B and B2C customers and create them in e-conomic accordingly. As they have international customers we also handle multiple VAT zones – both in regards to creating orders and when creating customers in e-conomic
What SaaS Products Were Used and Why?
Zapier – Both the platforms to be integrated had Zapier integrations available along with all required triggers and actions. Plus, it’s easy to use and monitor.
e-conomic – The accounting system already being used by Mill and Mortar and Cloudify has the expertise for creating custom workflows with WooCommerce and e-conomic.
How Did It Help?
Once the automation was set up, updates from WooCommerce automatically started getting updated in e-conomic. For every order placed in the WooCommerce webshop, an order was created in e-conomic with no human intervention. Later, we also helped them with invoice processing.
This resulted in:
- Time saved and money saved which was spent on manual processes
- The automation made the whole process efficient and diligent
- The process became scalable, no matter what the number of orders, invoices were created automatically
- Streamlined processes with no scope of human errors

Thus, without going to the Zapier dashboard they could see which automations were successful and what failed [and then re-trigger the, after error resolution].
